Kigelia Ruaha: A luxurious bush camp set on the banks above the Ifuguru sand river in Ruaha park.

It consists of only 6 well-positioned semi-permanent tents that blend in with the surrounding bush, causing minimal environmental impact. The camp is furnished with elegant furniture, and plenty of water and real flushing loos, giving a real authentic wilderness feel. The bathrooms are fully equipped with a couple of hanging mirrors and a curtain which can be pulled for privacy.

At the lounge areas sides are made of mosquito-net gauze, providing a cool breeze place to relax., furnished with a comfy sofa, a couple of chairs and a small wooden table topped with coffee table books, that has a natural and rustic edge to it, with patterned African throws to add style and a homely feel.

At the other end of the tent is a large sturdy table, where you’ll generally eat the meals and in front of the mass tent, facing the sand river, chairs are placed in the shade offering a place to relax. On the edge of the riverbed, there’s a small campfire where pre-dinner drinks are served.

The tents can be booked individually or the whole camp can be hired out exclusively

Old Mdonya: 12 tents, scattered in a spacious area under the shade of large sycamore fig, nestled in the curving banks of a sand-river. They are traditional safari tents.
The tents are simply but comfortably furnished. There is no electricity (except in the office, where camera and other batteries can be charged up overnight).

All the tents have en-suite bathrooms with dressing room, open-roofed shower and separate flush toilet.

Solar power warms up the water and produces electricity for use in the Camp Office.

Therefore torches, provided in tents, work with rechargeable batteries and kerosene lanterns light up tent bathrooms.

Mwagusi Safari Camp:  a unique and comfortable tented safari experience. Almost all of the camp is built from natural materials such as grass thatch, timber, drift wood, stones and reeds, allowing the camp to be in perfect balance and harmony with its surroundings, located inside the park.

Each “banda” (meaning ‘temporary shelter’) consists of a large spacious tent sheltered by a cooling thatch roof and set on a polished red floor. Each banda has en-suite facilities with flushing toilet, an unlimited supply of hot water, shower, sink, shelving, a large mirror and good night-time lighting. Built using stones, driftwood and bones the bathroom is an area of interesting, unique and original design. Thick comfortable towels and locally produced clove soap are provided.

An efficient same-day laundry service that is free of charge is offered. The tented living area includes dressing table and mirror, trunk for storage, comfortable beds with high-density mattresses, safari style chairs and bedside tables for night-time reading. All the “bandas” are built into the sandy banks of the Mwagusi River providing their own private and secluded view. Each has large covered verandah, with a comfortable cushioned seating area and swinging hammock, making this the perfect place to relax and view the passing wildlife

Ruaha River Lodge: located inside the park & consisting of 24 stone chalets stretching along the river bank with stunning views from a large veranda out the front, while the huge interiors feature a sitting area, writing desk and either twin or double beds. At the rear of each chalet is a large bathroom decorated with found timber, a shower and double basins.

The first dining area is a long banda by the side of the river. Breakfast is the perfect time to watch the game meander down for a drink, while evenings can be spent around the fire pit, looking down the river, or curled up in one of the sofas with a drink and a book.

The second area is imperiously-positioned atop the largest kopje in the area, situated on a bend, and enjoys commanding views down two sections of the river. This is surely the best sundowner spot in Ruaha.
